2. Disk Drill
Disk Drill is a data recovery software available for both Windows and Mac. It claims to allow you to recover literally any file format on your device, including Microsoft Office documents, messages, and even media files.
You can use Disk Drill to recover files from a wide range of devices; you're not limited to just recovering files you had stored on your internal hard drive or SSD.
Disk Drill works with a PC or Mac, HDD or SSD (external and internal), USB drives and pen drives, SD and CF cards, digital cameras, and even iPhone and Android smartphones (although at the time of writing only iPhone was available in the list of recoverable devices).
As with Stellar, there are multiple paid tiers available to you, including a free tier. The free tier only covers you for 500 MB, half that of Stellar's free tier and it also lacks Stellar's extensive feature set. There is a Pro version and an enterprise version (the latter is for companies and offers a discount on the overall price for up to ten users).

Have you ever lost any files in your computer? It happens way too often. Sometimes it is just you not being careful enough and sometimes unwanted deletion of some files can occur due to technical issues. However, none of your files are ever truly deleted. When you are deleting pictures, documents or other items, computer lists them for overwriting. But until something else takes the place of the deleted file, you can actually recover it. But how?
Nothing on your hard drive gets actually deleted – it can only be overwritten. While the files are useful computer doesn’t have a right to overwrite them. You grant this right by deleting these files, whether it would be pictures, documents, videos or music. However, even if they are not permanently gone it is difficult to recover them and you need specialized software for this job. And that’s where the Stellar Data Recovery for Windows comes in.

What is the Stellar Data Recovery for Windows?
It is a program designed to help you access and recover deleted files, folders, missing or corrupt partitions and even formatted hard drives. This software works with any kind of storage device, including memory cards, CD’s and DVD’s, USB thumb drives and so on. Stellar Data Recovery for Windows scans the memory media for hidden files and allows you to preview them before restoring. There are two modes of scanning – Quick Scan and Deep Scan, the first one being significantly quicker and yet a little less meticulous. Deep Scan searches for file signatures even in severely corrupt storage media. It is even able to recover raw data.
Stellar Data Recovery for Windows find and recover?
Well, pretty much everything. We would struggle to find file types that this program could not find or recover. It deals with deleted files, emails, partitions, formatted hard drives, optical media and so on and so forth. It can find and recover virtually any type of image, audio, video, internet, archive, backup, Office documents, databases and other files – if it is still there, it will find it.
Is it difficult to use?
Once you read the name “Stellar Data Recovery for Windows” you might get a little intimidated, thinking that you will need an IT diploma to work this software, but that is not the case at all. In fact, you could say that this program is actually easy to use – it is extremely user-friendly.
The first window of the Stellar Data Recovery for Windows – everything is clear and simple.
Installation is going to take a couple of minutes. Once it’s completed, you will see the facade of the Stellar Data Recovery for Windows – a minimalist window with 6 main options. Those include Office Documents, folders, emails, photos, audio and videos. Above all of them you will find a nice option for “All data”, which simply checks all the boxes in the window. Once you make your choice, you click “Next” and select where you want the program to scan. Then just click “Scan” and the process starts.
You should go with a “Quick scan” at first, which is positively fast. If the file you are looking for doesn’t show up, then go with a “Deep Scan” option. Results are presented in a simple table. On the left side you will see the basic folder, in which the program found the files. You can browse the results by the file type or by simply scrolling through the folders, if you remember where the file was. There is also a search option, conveniently located in the top right corner.
Another interesting feature is preview. Many similar programs have this function, but it typically doesn’t display all the formats. For example, some file recovery apps allow previewing images, but do not allow peeking into PDFs. Stellar Data Recovery for Windows allows you to quickly look into DOCx, PPT, XLSX, images, PDFs and so on – there are very little files that this program cannot preview. In fact, it can also preview audio files – it allows you to take a quick listen, which is all you need to make a decision about the recovery. Stellar recovery data is a very useful feature, which helps deciding whether the recovery is needed for that particular file.
The second step is to select where you want to scan for lost and deleted data.
And then you move on to recovery, which is simple enough – just click “Recover” button, which is where you expect it to be. It is notoriously simple. But there is a catch – recovery is only available in a registered version. Prices of the Stellar Data Recovery for Windows start from $79.99. It comes with a free technical support, which is highly stellar recovery data by its users.
Stellar Data Recovery for Windows is really simple to use. This is partially due to a minimalistic design, which, fortunately, lacks any kind of intricate graphic designs. Stellar Data Recovery for Windows is friendly and does not push down on the user with technical terms and useless information. It goes straight to the business and everyone can use it.
Is it effective?
Effectiveness of such programs depends heavily on how soon after losing files you attempt the recovery. However, Stellar Data Recovery for Windows seems to be extremely effective. It found all of the files we’ve deleted for this test. In fact, it found some files from a year ago and was able to preview them. Quick Scan, which takes only minutes, seems to be good enough – Deep Scan only comes into play when the Quick Scan doesn’t cut it. But in our case Deep Scan was never needed.
Quick Scan takes much less time, but the Deep Scan finds more.
Interestingly, you can turn the preview feature off while the scanning is taking place. That simply allows cutting some time off the duration of this process, which is a nice feature. It actually seems to work – when we turned off the preview, we saved some 40 seconds of a 3 minute long scan. Turning off the preview doesn’t affect the performance of the scan in any negative way and you can still preview your files once the process is completed.
Another very good feature is an ability to save your progress. If you want to turn off your scan results, but also wish to come back to them later, you can save scan information and resume from where you left off. It is that simple – we can imagine this feature being a serious time saver in an office setting.
Turning off the preview during scan will save some time.
Overall, Stellar Data Recovery for Windows finds everything that it needs to find and works very quickly. Additional features and preview make it very effective and allow users to find the exact document they’ve been looking. That is if the deleted files are not yet overwritten.
There are many ways to evaluate the performance of a piece of software, so let’s look through the main criteria.
Once the scane is completed, you can preview the results and make decisions about the recovery.
User-friendliness.Stellar Data Recovery for Windows is extremely user friendly due to its minimalistic design, lack of technical language and an easy-to-read interface. You can start using it immediately, regardless of your background in IT – even if you’re not very good with computers, you will figure this one out pretty quickly.
Scanning.Stellar Data Recovery for Windows has two scanning modes – Quick and Deep. Quick Scan will essentially do everything you need and, when preview feature is turned off, it works faster than similar programs that we tried before. Deep Scan just goes that extra mile to find little bits of your file that Quick Scan might have missed. It is truly incredible, even though for our purposes it didn’t come in handy.
Functionality. This program doesn’t just recover your lost files from the hard drive. It can also work with external storage devices, such as memory cards and CDs. This program can also restore formatted hard drives and lost partitions. It does a lot of things and does it very well. You just have to remember that the more difficult the job is, the longer it is going to take. But during the scan the computer doesn’t seem to slow down so you can continue working on something else while waiting for the results.
Effectiveness.Stellar Data Recovery for Windows managed to find everything we were looking for and did so quickly. Recovery process is also very rapid and simple. It is highly effective software for what it does and there really aren’t many complaints to be made. In the results you will find all your O&O SafeErase Professional Free Activate, including the ones that were never deleted or lost in the first place. This can make it a little trickier finding your actually lost data, but there is a search function for that. Or you can sort the results by their format or location as well.
Overall, Stellar Data Recovery for Windows is a very effective program. We can imagine it being very useful in times when you’re desperate for your lost files. The only real disadvantage that we see is the price – Stellar Data Recovery for Windows starts from $79.99 –this includes idm full version with crack free download utorrent - Crack Key For U 1 year license for a single system, but doesn’t include video or JPEG repair – for that you would have to jump up to stellar recovery data $99.99 Premium version. However, this investment may be worth it if you need to recover a lot of lost data.
You can download this software for Free, which allows scanning and previewing your lost or deleted data but doesn’t allow recovering it. Once the preview of a file is shown, you will easily get it on your desired selected location.

Stellar Data Recovery: Performance
We tried Stellar Data Recovery on a Windows 10 laptop with 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive. A quick scan of our hard drive took less than four minutes. However, it did use 200MB of RAM and approximately 75% CPU. This high CPU usage is not unusual for data recovery software, so we’d suggest you don’t use this type of software alongside other resource-intensive applications.
The quick scan recovered everything we expected it to, but there is also a deep scan feature available. This used significantly more RAM and a similar amount of CPU and took over 12 hours. However, it did retrieve significantly more data—125GB compared to 88GB with the quick scan.

Retrieving lost files can be difficult, but Stellar Data Recovery did a great job. In less than four minutes, it recovered the files we intentionally deleted, along with almost 500,000 others. The app supports all known file types, and custom types can be added with the advanced options menu. The sheer number of files retrieved was a little overwhelming at first, but fortunately, they can be sorted by file type, size, and location. A search bar is also available.

There are numerous alternatives to Stellar Data Recovery which could better fit your needs. For example, the Ashampoo Undeleter is significantly cheaper (just $14.99 for a lifetime license) and is great for simple file recovery.
Data Rescue 5 is a more expensive alternative (starting at a $99 one-off payment for five recovery drives), but it comes with a selection of powerful features comparable to those of Stellar Data Recovery.
