in an image if it’s not horizontal. You’ll learn more about cropping in the
chapter “Crop & Transform a Photo.”
● Free Transform (Cmd/Ctrl + T). This tool makes it easy to transform a layer.
Once active you can drag a handle at the side of the image to resize the width
or height. Click the Lock icon in the info area if you want to force the image to
maintain its original shape. You can also enter a specific size in pixels by
clicking on a number.

from one part of the image (just hold down the Option key and click on the
source pixels). You can then click and paint in another part of the image to
add those pixels into a new area. You’ll learn more in the chapter “Removing
an Object.”
● Erase (Cmd/Ctrl + E). The Erase tool is similar to the Clone & Stamp tool. The
key difference is that you don’t need to choose where to sample pixels from.
Simply click and paint on an unwanted object and pixels surrounding it will
blend and try to remove the object from the image. You’ll also learn more
about erasing in the chapter “Removing an Object.”

Add title bar sections below

While color correcting or adjusting exposure, the histogram can be a great help. A
histogram is a graphical representation of the tonal values of your image. This graph
illustrates how the pixels in the image are distributed across brightness levels. In
other words, it shows the amount of tones of particular brightness found in your
photograph ranging from black (0% brightness) to white (100% brightness). Ideally,
well-balanced images will have tonal values across the entire range of the histogram.
To read a histogram, start at the left edge, which shows the shadow regions. The
middle shows the midtones (where most adjustments to an image are made), and
to the right are the highlights.
The histogram is able to display Red, Green, Blue channels separately or, by default,
shows all of them at once. Click on the Histogram to switch between seeing a
composite Histogram or just viewing details about the Red, Green, and Blue
channels (which can be useful for spotting tint issues and color casts). You can also
see a grayscale average for luminance.
Additionally, clicking the two small triangles in the upper left and upper right
corners will show hot and cold pixels respectively. These are pixels that have shifted

filter is designed to solve specific problems or enhance an image in a particular way.
The Filters section of the side panel shows any filters you have applied or that are
included in a workspace.

Filters can be stacked in any order to change their order of operations. You can also
add masks to filters to control their results. Filters can also have other properties like
their blending mode and visibility adjusted.
You’ll learn more about each filter in the chapter “Using Filters.”

Chapter 8: Loading Images

There are several ways to add images into your Luminar Library. You can Add
folders, which leave your photos exactly where they are on your hard drives. If you
want to copy images from a memory card or external drive, then Import images
(Mac-only) which moves or copies your images to a new location. You can also open
your images from any location in Quick Edit, which allows you to easily edit and
export photos that you do not want to keep in your Luminar Catalog.

Adding Folders
Adding a folder of images to your library allows you to quickly access, organize, and
work with photos located on your hard drive, on external hard drives, and even
synced cloud storage. When you add a folder, none of your photos are moved.
Luminar scans the folder and any subfolders and creates a thumbnail and link to the
images inside. If there are folders inside the folder being added, Luminar will keep
the folder structure. Folders tie directly to folders on your hard drive. Luminar works
with the real-world folder structure of your hard drive(s).

Adding Folders from an Internal Hard Drive

There are three ways to add a folder to your Luminar library. All three methods
accomplish the same goal.

Adding with the Library Side Panel

● Clicking on the + sign to the right of the word folder on the side panel opens
up a browser window in Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac.)
● Here you can navigate to and folders on your hard drive and select them.
● When you select a folder, it will be added as a top level folder to your folder
● All folders contained within an added folder are also added as subfolders.

All the folders added will now appear under the word F older in the L
 ibrary Side
Panel. Each of these folders are considered a Master Folder. Any folders contained
within a Master folder are added as subfolders. Additional folders within those
folders are also added. These are referred to as Subfolders. Any folder with a small
disclosure triangle to the left of its name contains subfolders. Clicking on the
disclosure triangle will reveal the subfolders within a Master Folder. You can add
additional subfolders to any folder in the future by right-clicking on a folder and

microsoft office 2019 - Activators Patch 42

choosing the N ew Subfolder command. Creating Subfolders is covered more deeply

in the O
 rganizing Images chapter.

Adding from the Open Button Menu

The Open Button menu is located in the upper left side of the both the Library and
Edit toolbars. Clicking on the Open Button menu will reveal three options. Choose
Add Folder to add an existing folder on your computer to your library. Once
selected, folders are added exactly the same way as from the Library side panel.

Adding with the menu bar

You can add a folder from the main menu by choosing Library > Add Folder. Once
selected, folders are added the exactly the same way as from the Library Side Panel.

Adding Folders from an External Hard Drive

You can add folders located on an external hard drive. The process is the same as
adding folders from an internal hard drive. Be aware that if the external hard drive is
disconnected from your system, the media will go offline. If the media is offline, the
name of the folder is greyed out, and a warning triangle appears next to the folders

When an offline folder is opened, thumbnails of the original photos will be available.
You can flag, rate, and label offline images, but you luminar profile - Crack Key For U not be able to edit the
images until the external hard drive is reconnected. Offline images will also have a
warning triangle in the upper left corner of the thumbnail. You can still organize
these offline images into Albums. (Please see the Organizing Images chapter for
more details on using Albums). You cannot move offline images into a folder.w

When the external hard drive is reattached and mounted, the folder and all the
images inside will come back online. The folder will no longer be greyed out, and the
warning triangle next to the folder’s name and on each of the images will no longer
be there. Any tagging, rating, and labeling are done while the folder is offline will be
remembered. Also if any images had been edited prior to the external drive being
removed, their edits will be remembered when the drive is reconnected.

Adding Folders from Synced Cloud Storage

Luminar lets you add folders from cloud storage locations that are synced to your
computer. In this case, synced means that a physical copy of the photo resides on
either your internal or external hard drive. If only a reference copy of the photo is
located in the cloud storage photo, Luminar will not be able to create a thumbnail or
be able to edit the image.

Adding folders from synced cloud storage is very useful in situations where a client
or family member adds images remotely to a cloud service server. Once these
images are synced locally to your computer, Luminar automatically adds them to
your Library.

Importing Images (MacOS)

Importing images is different than adding a folder of images to your Luminar
Library. Importing physically moves your images or lets you create a copy of your
images to a new location. You can import images from an internal hard drive, and
external hard drive, and even a memory card. You can import images from the O pen
Button Menu, by clicking directly on a folder or subfolder in the L
 ibrary Side Panel,
or through the M
 enu Bar.

How to Import Images

sorted into subfolders.
7. Mark the I nclude Subfolders checkbox if you want to take additional folders
of images contained within a selected folder. If this is checked, Luminar will
add images from all subfolders inside the selected folder. If left unchecked,
only the images at the top level of the folder will be imported. The contents of
the subfolders will be ignored.

TIP: Importing from the Library Sidebar. You can import images directly from the
Folders area of the Library Sidebar. If you right-click on an existing folder in the
Library side panel and choose Import Images to this Folder…

Library and its corresponding folder on your hard drive. The original photo will be
deleted from its original location once it is moved into the new location. If importing
from a SD memory card, if the card is locked the images will not be erased.

Organizing Images During Import

To make it easier to find your best photos, Luminar offers several ways to organize
imported images. These commands automatically build subfolders based on
different image or folder properties. Just click the Organize menu in the Import
dialog to choose one of these options.

● Into One Folder. This will place all the images into a single level of the folder.
No subfolders will be created.
● Keep Existing Folder Structure. If there are additional folders inside the
folder you are importing, subfolders will be created to reflect the original
folder structure.
● Year/Month/Day. Luminar will look at the creation date of the image and
create subfolders based on the year, month, and day of the moth the photo
was taken.

● Year/Month. L uminar will look at the creation date of the image and create
subfolders based on the year and month the photo was taken.

in situations where someone wants you to develop a few of their photos or even
when you have a photo you want to quickly process, but not have it remain in your
Luminar Library after you are done editing it.

When you open an image in quick edit remains in its original location on your hard

Opening Luminar 2018 Files

Images that were edited in previous versions of Luminar and saved in the Luminar
Project format are compatible with Luminar 3. The files must have used the native
Luminar project format and the Windows compatible option for best results.

● Native Luminar Files can be added within a folder
● You can use the import command (currently Mac-only) to add a native
Luminar file to your library.
● Native files can be opened with the Quick Edit command into Luminar 3.

the filters, layers, and transformations that you originally applied. Even the edit
history is imported. Changes you make to an image from an opened project file are
stored in the Luminar Library catalog, and the original project file is not modified.

Luminar 3 does not allow saving of individual Luminar project. Rather all of the edits
are stored in your Luminar catalog.

Chapter 9: Developing a Photo

The process of getting a photo to look natural, or to match your recollection of a
scene is developing the image. During this stage, the goal is to create an image
whose tone and color appear natural and accurate. Luminar offers many easy-to-use
as well as powerful controls to improve your image.

How to Develop a RAW Photo

When working with raw files, it is recommended that you apply the R
 aw Develop
filter to the image in order to fine-tune the raw image.

You can apply the filter to any raw photo:
1. Make sure an image is open in Luminar.
2. Click the A dd Filters button.
3. Choose RAW Develop from the Essential category of filters. Note: If the file is
not a camera Raw image, then you will see D evelop in the Filter list.
4. You can only have one instance of this effect and it will always apply at the top
of the filter stack before other filters.
5. You can also apply the RAW Develop filter by using some of the built-in
A close equivalent to the RAW Develop filter is the similarly named Develop filter.
This is designed for use on non-raw files such as TIFF or JPEG. You can only have
one RAW Develop or Develop filter applied per image.

The Adjust tab contains the essential color and tone adjustments that should be
made using the raw file. This sets the stage for all the adjustments that come after.

● Profile. Are you looking for truly professional control over your raw files? Be
sure to give DNG Camera Profiles a try. Luminar recognizes the industry
standard D CP files that you may already have on your computer (or have

bought from third parties). These offer greater control over how the color and
tone in the raw file is handled. Need a bunch of free DCP profiles? Just install
the free D NG Converter from Adobe.
● White Balance. U se the White Balance preset list to choose from a variety of
presets that are similar to a camera’s white balance menu. (Note: Presets are
not available if the file is not a camera Raw image.) The Eyedropper can also
be used to click on an area that should be white or neutral Geomagic Wrap 2021.0.0.3008 Free Download with Crack to calculate a
custom white balance.
● Temperature. U se this slider to warm or cool a shot. This adjustment
essentially adds Cyan or Yellow to an image to change its color temperature.
● Tint. T

useful for removing color casts from an image.
● Exposure. Adjusts the global luminance of the image. Moving this slider to
the left results in a darker image (reduction of exposure value). Moving this
slider to the right results in a brighter image (increase of exposure value).
● Contrast. Adjusts the contrast of the image. Contrast is the difference in
luminance or color that makes an object in an image distinguishable from
another. Practically speaking, contrast is determined by the difference in the
color and brightness of an object in relation to other objects within the same
field of view.
● Highlights. A djusts the brightness of the brightest areas of the image. Moving
the slider to the right cause very bright areas to become brighter, while
moving the slider to the left, makes them darker.
● Shadows. Adjusts the brightness level of the darkest areas of the image.
Moving the slider to the right will cause such areas to become brighter and
additional details will appear. When moving to the left, such areas become
darker, and the number of shadow areas in the image generally increases.
● Whites. Adjusts the white point of the histogram and white tones in the
image. When moving to the right, the brightest tones will become brighter
while the histogram stretches to the right. Moving the slider to the left will
cause white tones in the image to become darker and the histogram to
compress to the left.
● Blacks. S ets the black point of the histogram or black tones in the image.
Moving the slider to the right, black tones become brighter and the histogram
compresses to the right. Moving the slider to the left, black becomes darker
and the histogram stretches to the left.

This set of controls lets you apply lens corrections to a photo. These are designed to
remove flaws in the image caused by the lens or handling. The Lens Correction
command easily fixes all kinds of lens distortion, from barrel and pincushion to
chromatic aberration and vignetting.

● Auto Corrections. These are three automatic corrections that can fix your
image. They are designed to quickly fix common problems.
● Lens Distortion. Click this option to remove lens distortion
automatically. The filter analyzes your image and its metadata to
calculate an automatic fix that you can apply in one-click. Get rid of
wide angle distortion and get truer perspective lines and more
attractive portraits.
● Chromatic Aberration. C hromatic aberration is a type of color fringing.
It often happens on telephoto lenses and in areas of high contrast. It
tends to show up as magenta or green edges.
● Defringe. This adjustment can remove halos or edge noise (particularly
in high-contrast areas).
● Lens Distortion. Drag to the left to increase the barrel shape of the lens. Drag
to the right to pinch and compensate for wider angle lenses. You may need to
crop the layer or use the Scale command in the Transform controls to
compensate for gaps at the edges.
● Devignette. Removes any darkening at the edges of an image caused by the
lens itself. This is a corrective command, not a stylizing command. If you
want an artistic vignette, be sure to explore the Vignette filter.

It is also possible to transform the shape of a photo to compensate for perspective
issues or problems caused by the camera’s physical position. With the Transform
tool, there are many options available for changing the position, rotation, and scale
of a layer. The Transform tab is the third tab in the Raw Develop and the Develop

Adjust any of the following properties as needed to transform the image:
● Vertical. This tilts the image by rotating on the X-axis. This tilts the image
forwards or backwards and can help compensate for an image with any
keystoning problems. This type of problem causes vertical lines to appear
skewed and is often caused by the camera shooting from age by rotating on

the Y-axis. This angles the image from side to side and solves the problems
caused by shooting at an angle in relation to the subject.
● Horizontal. This adjustment tilts the image on the Y-axis. It can help
compensate for perspective issues caused by shooting off-angle from your
● Rotate. Rotates the entire canvas on the Z-axis and can be useful for
straightening a crooked photo.
● Aspect. This command changes the aspect ratio of a photo. Dragging the
slider will expand the height or the width while contracting the opposite
direction for the second value.
● Scale. Use the Scale command to effectively crop the transformed photo. This
is a useful way to hide gaps after transforming a photo.
● X Offset. This shifts the transformed image left or right.
● Y Offset. This shifts the transformed image up or down.

Rotating an Image
Using the Image menu you can easily rotate an image in 90˚ increments.

1. You can open in the Edit mode or simply have it selected in the Library view.
2. Choose Image > Rotate and choose from two options:
Alfa eBooks Manager Crack With License Key 2021 Rotate Left turns the image 90˚ counterclockwise.
○ Rotate Right turns the image 90˚ clockwise.
3. If needed, the command can be chosen multiple times.

Flipping an Image
Whether it’s for creative purposes or for technical reasons, you can flip or flop an
image. This effectively creates a mirrored image.

1. You can open in the Edit mode or simply have it selected in the Library view.
2. Choose Image > Flip and choose from two options:
○ Flip Horizontal revolves the image 180˚ horizontally to create a
mirrored image.
○ Flip Vertical revolves the image 180˚ vertically to create a mirrored

Supported File Types

Luminar is designed to open a wide range of file formats. This ensures compatibility
with most cameras as well as common graphic formats. Supported file types

Supported Graphic Formats

● PNG
● TIFF (8-bit and 16-bit)
● Apple HEIF files
● PSD (Mac only)

Supported RAW formats

● .CR2
● .NEF
● .ORF
● .RAF
● .ERF
● .ARW

Working with an unsupported Raw Format

If you are trying to open an image from a camera that is not officially supported by
Luminar, the best workaround is to convert the images to a DNG file. Shooting DNG
may be possible in-camera. Additionally, you can install the free D
 NG Converter
from Adobe.

Luminar fully supports DNG files. This includes DNG files created by a camera. You
can also use files created with the DNG Converter utility from a raw format.

Chapter 10: Rating Images

Over time, your photo library will grow. One of the key benefits of a Luminar library
is finding just the images you want to work with, view, or share. In this way, you
should rate your images so you can find your favorites easily in the future.

Understanding Rating Controls

There are three types of ratings you can apply to an image. Luminar lets you quickly
rate your photos with a 5-star system. You can also f lag your images as favorites or
rejects., Additionally, color labels can be applied.

Flags are the quickest way to rate and sort images. There are three types of Flags
that you can apply to an image.

● Flagged. Flagged images are considered your Favorites. These are images
you may want to work on or star rate later.
● Rejected. These are images that you know you know you will not want to use.
This could be based on focus issues, closed eyes, or other problems that can’t
be fixed in editing.
● Unmarked. Images that are neither Flagged or Rejected remain unmarked.
You can filter out everything but unmarked images to determine if you want
to flag or reject them. Images that have been flagged or Rejected can have
their rating removed using the Unmarked command.

Images can be rated on a numerical scale of 0 to 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best.
Once rated you can filter your photos by their star rating, for example showing
images with 3
 stars or more.

Color Labels
Color labels can be applied to an image. The colors are fixed at red, yellow, green,
blue, and purple. People use color labeling for a variety of reasons. Some examples
include: needs editing, finished, travel images, family photos, and so on. You can
filter by a color label and show only images labeled with a single color.

Rating Images in the Library View

The easiest place to rate images is in the Library View. This is because you can
compare images to each other. In the Library V iew, there are many different
options to rate your images either by using your mouse or with keyboard shortcuts.

In the Gallery View you can flag and rate a photo directly on the image thumbnail.
When you hover your mouse over a thumbnail that is unmarked, a small outline of a
heart and five stars appear along the bottom edge.

To start:
1. Click a Shortcut in the Library panel or choose a Folder, Subfolder, or Album
for the images you want to work with.
2. Press the G key to ensure you are in Gallery View.
3. Adjust the thumbnail size with the zoom controls so you can easily see image

Now you can apply ratings directly to the image.
● Star Rating. You can apply a star rating by clicking on the hollow stars along
the lower left edge of its thumbnail, You can also use the following keyboard
● Flag an Image. Click the hollow heart in the lower right edge of each
thumbnail, The heart can be toggled on or off with each click to mark flagged
or Unmarked.
● View Color Label. Y ou can also view color labels on the image thumbnail. To
change colors you will need to choose Image > Set Color Label.

TIP: Using your mouse to rate images. If you right click on an image, a drop-down
menu will appear. At the top of the menu will be Set Flag, Set Rating, and Set Color
Label. Once selected the type of rating, a second set of options will be available
specific to that rating type, letting you flag or reject an image, rate it from 1 to 5 stars,
or apply a color label.

Rating Images in the Single View

You can also rate images in the Edit or Single Image Library view. This can be useful
as you enhance the image as you might change your mind about how good it is
(especially after taking advantage of Luminar’s filters and Looks).

To start:
1. Click a Shortcut in the Library panel or choose a Folder, Subfolder, or Album
for the images you want to work with.
2. Press the G key to ensure you are in Gallery View.

4. The individual image opens and you should see ratings and other useful
information below the image in the Canvas.
5. If hidden, click the Show button and make sure C urrent Photo Actions i s
marked. You can now rate directly below the image.

The image will shrink slightly to reveal a set of rating controls. If no ratings have
been applied to the image you will see the outline of a small circle, the outline of a
small heart, a greyed out X, and 5 greyed out stars. If the image has already has
been rated, those ratings will be reflected in the symbols when you activate show
Current Photo Actions.

From left to right, here’s what’s displayed
● File name
● Color Label. You can click on the circle to get a drop down of the various color
● Flagged. Click the heart to flag the image as a favorite
● Rejected. Click the X to reject the image

Chapter 11: Organizing Images

A key benefit of working with the Library panel is organization. Being able to find
your best and favorite photos makes your library more useful. Taking the time to
organize in Luminar is important.

The primary organization tool in Luminar are folders, which connect directly to
Folders on your hard drive. In addition to physically being able to organize your real
world-folders within Luminar, you can also create a virtual organization of your
images using A lbums. Albums let you organize your images into groups without
affecting their location on your hard drive. Let’s explore both approaches.

Using Folders to Organize Images

Organizing your images within folders in Luminar is a great way to keep and
maintain your images on your hard drive. All organization you apply to folders inside
of Luminar directly affects how the folder on your hard drive is organized, and vice
versa. If you create subfolders or add new images to folders on your hard drive, your
image library in Luminar is also updated.

What are Folders?

When you add a folder of images in Luminar, you are creating a direct link to the
folders, subfolders, and images on your hard drive. You should consider managing
folders and their contents an extension to managing these items directly within
Explorer in Windows or the Finder on a Mac.

How are Folders Different than Albums?

Since folders in Luminar directly link to (and effect) folders on your hard drive, you
need to be sensitive to how you organize them within Luminar. Albums allow you to
organize your images inside of Luminar without affecting the structure of images on
your hard drive. Think of Albums as a playlist. Images can be organized in several
different Albums making them easier to find, but their location on your hard drive
remains untouched

Master Folders
To add a folder to your Library, just click the A
dd Folder button ( the + sign to the
right of the word Folder( in the Library Panel or from the main menu Library > Add
Folder. The referenced folder is now added as a top-level folder to your folder
collection. All folders contained within that top-level folder are also added (as

Using Subfolders
Any folders that already exist within a referenced Master folder are added as
subfolders. If a new folder is added to the master folder from within the operating
system, Luminar will recognize that change and add that folder into the Library. You
can also add subfolders to Luminar. Using nested folders makes it easy to organize
image by client, location, or event.

Creating Subfolders
As you work in your Luminar Library, you may want to create additional folders to
get organized. You can quickly create additional subfolders inside of any folder in
your Eset nod32 antivirus 11 lifetime crack - Free Activators Library in two ways.

● Right-clicking on a folder and choose New Subfolder
● Selecting a folder in your Library panel and choose Library > New Subfolder
from the main application menu.

A new subfolder is created called U ntitled, goldwave license - Crack Key For U you should rename. This subfolder
is also created on your hard drive within the master folder.

Also, you can drag folders from one level to another to create a nested folder. Just
select any folder in the luminar profile - Crack Key For U list. Drag a folder on top of another to nest it and
convert it into a subfolder. The folder is relocated both in your Luminar library and
on your hard drive.

Renaming Folders
As you continue to organize images, you may want to rename a folder or subfolder.
Perhaps it’s to identify the status of the images (such as S elects) or to split up by
date or location. Be sure to use care when editing the names of folders.

● If you choose to rename a folder or subfolder from within Luminar, the name
of the folder that it is linked to on your hard drive will have its name changed.
● If you change the name of a folder while Luminar is running, your library will
update to reflect the new names.

NOTE: If the Luminar application is closed and you rename or move a Master folder
on your hard drive, Luminar may become confused. This can break the link to your
images and the folder is no longer available (and will be grayed out). You should
change the name of the Master folder back to its original name so that Luminar will
reconnect to the media files and relaunch Luminar.

Moving Images Between Folders

You can move images and subfolders from one folder in your Library to another
folder in your Library. If you decide to reorganize your photos within Luminar, you
can select single or multiple images and drag them onto a different master folder or
into a subfolder. These images will be relocated on your hard drive to match their
new location inside of Luminar.

You can also move an entire subfolder of images from one folder to another, this to
will affect the organizational structure of your hard drive.

NOTE: If you move folders from one disk to another disk, images are moved (not
copied). This means they are transferred to the new location and erased from the
previous location.

Moving Images from the Quick Edit Collection to a Folder

You may recall that the Quick Edit command is a great way to work with individual
images and not add them to your collection of folders. Any image you open is
tracked as a recent file in the Quick Edit collection.

Images that have been temporarily added to Luminar using the Quick Edit
command can be permanently added to your Luminar Library.

1. In the Shortcuts area, click on the Quick Edits collection.

2. Select an image (or multiple images)
3. Dragging the image thumbnails onto any folder or subfolder in the Library
Panel. The images will be physically moved into the matching location on
your hard drive.

NOTE: When you drag an image from the Quick Edit collection, it will be moved on
your hard drive to the new location.

These images will still appear in the Quick Edit shortcut even though they are now
part of your Library. To remove them from the Quick Edit shortcut, select them and
just press the Delete key. The image is removed from the Quick Edit collection.
Though no longer in the Quick Edit collection, the images are in the new location
you and added to your Library.

Reconnecting Missing Folders and Images

As you work with folders and hard drives, it’s possible that images may move from
time to time. For example, if an external hard drive is unmounted, the folders linked
to that hard drive will be grayed out. When opened, thumbnails of the images
contained BurnInTest Professional 9.1 Build 1003 Crack + License Key Free 2020 that folder will be seen, and the photos can still be rated. However, you
will not be able to edit or move those images while the drive is offline.

To bring those folders back online, simply reconnect the external hard drive, and
Luminar will reestablish its link with the folders on the hard drive. Once reconnected
the folders will no longer be greyed out and the images can be edited or organized
as usual.

A few notes
● For best results move, rename, and organize referenced folders while Luminar
is running
● Avoid renaming master folders except within Luminar
● Remember that relocating and renaming folders in Luminar has a direct
effect on your hard drive.

Deleting Files from Folders

Taking the time to delete images in your Luminar library is a way to clean up your
hard drives and free up storage space. R
emember that deleting files from within
folders in Luminar will also delete them from your hard drive. However, there are
checks in place to keep you from accidentally deleting your original media. It takes
three steps, with warnings along the way to delete media permanently from your
hard drive when using Luminar.

Marking a File as a Rejects

A useful way to queue a file for deletion is to reject it. This is the first step in archiving
or deleting unwanted images. Just press the X key to mark a file as rejected (press U
to unmark the file if needed). When you mark an image as a reject, it becomes
greyed out in Luminar.

Safely removing Rejected files from your library

Luminar makes it easy to see and manage rejected files. This way you are only
working with the files you want to remove.
1. If necessary, open the Library panel by clicking Library in the Top toolbar.
2. Using the shortcut controls, choose All Photos. Alternatively, you can also
select a folder, album, or saved shortcut to view just a portion of your photo
3. At the top of the image gallery, in the Gallery View, locate the drop-down
menu labeled Showing:
4. From the list, choose to only show R ejected images.

Now you will be showing only the images you marked as Rejected. You can now
move all of these images into their own master folder.

If you need to create a new master folder click the add folder button or from the
main menu choose L ibrary > Add Folder. You can create a new folder on your hard
drive by selecting the New Folder button on the lower left corner of the dialogue

All of the rejected images have now been moved into the new master folder (in both
Luminar and on your hard drive). If you want to remove them from your catalog, but
not your hard drive, right click on the Rejected folder and select R
 emove From
Catalog f rom the drop-down menu. The images will be removed from your catalog,
but the source folder and the original files will remain on your disk.

Understanding Luminar’s Trash

As mentioned earlier, you can throw away images directly from within Luminar.
However, as a protective measure, Luminar will take three steps before they are
permanently deleted.

Deleting a File in Luminar

To delete an image or multiple images in Luminar select them and then pes 20 crack watch - Free Activators choose M ove to Trash from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, you can press
Cmd+Delete on a Mac or Ctrl+Delete on a PC. The images are removed from their
current folder and placed into the Luminar trash.

This trash is just a staging area, the files are still on your hard drive in the same place
on your drive. If you look in the Shortcuts area of the Library panel you’ll see a new
shortcut for T rash. P
lease note, if there are no files in the trash, the shortcut is
hidden. Click on the Trash shortcut to see additional controls.

Restoring a File from the Trash

When an Image is in Luminar’s Trash, it’s still on your hard drive. You can restore it
to its original location and your Library.

1. Select the image(s) that you want to restore.
2. Choose TemplateToaster Crack + Activation Key {2021} > Put Back to restore to your Library (the same command is
also available by right-clicking on the image).

Emptying Luminar’s Trash

If you decide that you want to permanently remove an image from the Luminar
Library you can.

● All references to the image in its folder are removed
● All edits are removed (be sure to export a new file to disk if you want to save
these first)
● Any references of the image in albums are removed

To empty Luminar Trash, you have two options.

●You can right click on a single or select multiple images, and select Delete
Forever from the popup menu.
UTorrent Serial Key - Crack Key For U the E mpty Trash button at the top of the window. This will get rid of all
images in the trash.
Your files are not yet deleted from disk. Luminar has only moved your images into
the Operating System Trash or Recycle Bin. You can still open the Trash/Recycle Bin
on your computer and retrieve the files. To permanently free up disk space, be sure
to empty the trash.

Emptying the System Trash/Recycle Bin

To truly delete the images from your hard drive you would need to empty the
System Trash on your computer. You do this at the Operating System level.
● MacOS. Finder > Empty Trash…
● Windows. Find the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop and then right click and
choose Empty Recycle Bin

Using Albums to Organize Images

Albums let you organize your images into groups without affecting their location on
your hard drive. Albums are a useful way to sort your images into groups or
categories, such a people, places, pets, and so on.

What are Albums?

Albums are virtual storage locations. Think of them as musical playlists for your
photos. A song on your hard drive can live in a playlist based on the artist, the year it
was released, and the genre of music it belongs to. So too can a photo, the same
original image can be assigned to an album named after the person, where the
picture was taken, and the event where it was shot.

How are Albums Different than Folders?

Unlike folders, when you move an image between album, or even into multiple
albums, nothing changes to the structure of your hard drive. If you delete a photo
from an album, it will still be in its original folder in Luminar and on your hard drive.

Creating an Album
To create an album, select a single image or group of images in your library. Click on
the Add Album b utton (the small +
button to the right of the word Albums) in the
Library panel. A new Album is created named “Untitled,” and, the selected images
are placed in that album. When you first create an album the name is highlighted,
allowing you to easily rename that album.

You can also create an Album from a group of images:
1. Select multiple images in your library
2. Choose Library > New Album (or press Cmd+N / Ctrl+N)

Renaming Albums
You can rename an Album at any time by right-clicking on it and selecting R
 ename
from the pop-up menu.

Copying Images Between Albums

You can drag images from one album to another album. This puts the image in the
new album without removing it from the first album. For example, you may have
photos of people in your Paris Travel Album and you also want them included in your
people Album

Removing Files from Albums

Removing an image from an album is easy. Since the file is still in its original folder
and in your library, this is a fast operation.

1. Choose the album you want to work with
2. Select the images you want to discard (use the Shift key to select a range of

3. Press the Delete key.

The images are removed from that selected Album; however, they will still live in
other Albums and their original folder. Removing an image from an album does not
affect the original file on your hard drive.

Warning: If you select Move to Trash on an image in an Album, all instances of that
photo will be removed from any Album it has been assigned to, and the original file
will be moved from its Folder and placed in Luminar’s trash folder (See the deleting
files. section.)

Moving Images from the QuickEdit Collection to an

Over time your Quick Edit collection will grow. You can organize images you
brought into you Quick Edit collection into existing Album or create a new album.
These images are still considered temporary and do not reside in any of the Folders
in Luminar. This is a great way to organize a bunch of images you want to edit, but
not affect where they are located on your hard drive. When you remove an image
from the Quick Edit collection, it will also be removed from any Albums you have
added it to.

NOTE: If you drag a Quick Edit image from an Album into a Folder, that photo will be
moved from its original location into the corresponding folder on your hard drive.

Chapter 12: Navigating & Managing

Your Library

As you continue to import images or add folders of images to your library, it will grow
in size and complexity. Fortunately, Luminar makes it easy to navigate around your
library, sort through images, and use multiple catalogs manage your photos.

Using Luminar Shortcuts

One of the easiest ways to find your content is with shortcuts. Located in the Library
Side Panel, S
 hortcuts let you Q
uickly access your library. Luminar makes it easy to
see content arranged by dynamically populated S hortcuts that organize your
images based on common and powerful criteria.

All Photos
Selecting the A
ll Photos shortcut loads all of the photos in your current catalog. If
you click on the small disclosure Triangle you can browse your Library by Year,
Month, or Day. Photos are automatically sorted based on their file creation or
capture date.

Quick Edits
If you have chosen to Open Images for Quick Edit, the Quick Edits shortcut will
appear in the list. Selecting this will show all of the images you have temporarily
added to your library to process.

If you have Flagged any images as Favorites, the favorites shortcut will appear. This
is the quickest way to find all of your favorite images. Combining this option with a
selection from the Viewing Filter allows you to filter your favorite images by star
rating, color label, and other criteria. Just click the dropdown list located next to the
word S howing in Gallery View to get started.

Multimedia - Activators Patch 72

Recently Added
Recently added photos appear under the Recently Added shortcut. If you click on
the small disclosure triangle you can browse these images by the specific day they
were added to your library.

Recently Edited
If you want to quickly review images that you have edited, select the R ecently
Edited s hortcut. All of your edited images will appear. If you click on the small
disclosure triangle you can refine what Luminar shows you by Today, Yesterday,
This Week, or T his Month.

If you have deleted any images the Trash shortcut appears. Here you can review
images that you’ve queued for deletion. The images can either be deleted and
moved to the system trash for cleanup or returned to the Luminar library

TIP: Custom Shortcuts.
You can right-click on a folder or album and choose A dd to Shortcuts for quick
access. If you ever change your mind, just right click on the shortcut and choose
Remove from Shortcuts. You can also drag shortcuts in the list into a new order.

Navigating with the Toolbar

As you browse a library, the toolbar offers two important controls for navigating
your library. These come in handy as you start to explore folders and subfolders.

Navigate Up
This button takes you up one folder in your Luminar library. As you navigate deeper
into subfolders, you may want to see a parent folder. For example you may have a
folder called Soccer, and inside a folder for each season of games. Inside of each
season is a folder for each game. As you are working, the ability to move to a higher
folder level may come in handy. This is particularly true when navigating in the
Gallery View of the Library as it allows you to work with the Library panel hidden

Current Location
Clicking the Current Location shows you a list of folders and the current file path you
are exploring. This functionality is very similar to how a folder works in your
computer operating system. Clicking on the button shows an ordered list, and you
can choose a higher level folder to switch for browsing.

Filtering Images
The Showing drop-down menu located to the left of Shortcuts allows you to filter
your images by favorite, ratings, color and even edited. With hundreds, thousands,
even hundreds of thousands of pictures, finding the best ones can be tricky. For
instance, selecting show 4 Stars or More, lets you view only some of your best

Combining F iltering, with Luminar’s Sort function and S
 hortcuts. Albums and
Folders options, allows you to find exactly what you need in a few clicks. An example
might be Show luminar profile - Crack Key For U star images with from my Travel Album that I recently edited.

You can filter the images you see to only ones that were flagged as favorites. You
can also view only Rejected images and images that are unmarked (images that
were not tagged either Favorites or Rejected.)

Allows you to view your images by a certain number of stars and above. For
instance, maybe you only want to see your 4 and 5 star images to begin to edit. You
can also view all the images that were not assigned a star rating.

Color Label
Allows you to view your images by color label and if no color label has been applied.
This is very useful if you assigned different colors to represent different actions or
locations. For instance, any image labeled green might still need to be edited or
labeled Blue could be ready to export or print.

Shows all images that have been edited. When you want to quickly find all the
photos that you have worked on, showing only Edited images makes easy work of
finding the photos that you have already processed.

Sorting Images
The Sort dropdown menu lets you choose the best order to view images in the
Library view.
Located in the upper right corner of the Library view, lets you easily switch between
different sorting options depending on your needs. Maybe you want to find your
most recent photos - Sort by C apture Time and D
 escending.or your oldest images
sort by C
 apture Time and Ascending.

Capture time
This uses date and time metadata when a photo was shot to sort your images. This
allows you to easily find your most recent photos in a folder or Album or the oldest.

Edit Time
This allows you to sort your photos by the last edited them in Luminar. This is great
when you reopen your library after a break and want to quickly locate the image you
were last working on.

If you have rated your images on a scale of one to five stars, you can easily sort them
from highest rated to lowest rated and vice-versa. To see your highest rated images,
switch the sort order to Descending.

Groups and sorts your images by how you flagged them. If you sort by ascending,
you will see Unmarked images, Rejected images, and Favorite images in that order.
Switching to decent reverse the order show Rejected images first, then Favorites,
and finally unmarked. all Favorites, Rejected, and Unmarked together

Color label
This allows you to sort your photos by the color label you applied to an image. If set
to Ascending, the sort order will be - none, red, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
Descending reverses that order.

File name
Sorts your images by the file name. Files starting with a number will appear first
followed by Letters from A to Z. When set to Descending or, images will be sorted by
Z to A and them numerically from highest to lowest number.

File Type
Groups and sorts images alphabetically by file types, such as Jpegs, TIFFs, and Raw
files. These groups are sorted alphabetically by the file identifier. For example, Sony
Raw images would appear first as they are . ARW files, Canon Raw files 2nd as they
are . CR2 files, then .JPG, Nikon . NEF files, and then TIFFs.

File size
You can sort your photos by the size of the file. This is useful if you have multiple
versions of the same photos, perhaps a low-quality thumbnail and the original Jpeg.
Sorting by size lets you easily group them, and in the case of the low resolution
thumbnails delete them from your library.

Sorts from smallest to largest, A to Z, lowest number to highest, oldest to newest,
and so on.

Reverse the sorting order, largest to smallest, from Z to A, and newest to oldest, etc.

Revealing Original Images

There are times when you want to locate an original photo or your hard drive.
Perhaps to save or archive the original on another Drive or to send to someone.

19 Best Photo Editing Software for Mac & PC in 2021

If you’re a photographer looking for the best photo editing software, you’re definitely on the right track.

After all, taking pictures is only half the battle – whether you’re shooting on your phone or the latest mirrorless camera, we all need to edit our photos to make them look amazing.

In the right hands, the best photo editing software can take a dull image to something that can amaze your friends, or even win an award.

At a glance:

In the past, photographers used a dark room to ‘push and pull’ their film as a way to reveal every shadow and highlight, to create their final masterpiece.

Nowadays, with digital, the process is replaced with photo editing software, and there are plenty of options for Mac and PC to choose from.

This is a guide to the best photo editing software in 2021 for photographers of all levels.

(Use the table of contents below to skip straight to your chosen product review.)

Paid Editors

1. Adobe Lightroom

Check current price

Despite its rather confusing naming convention, Adobe Lightroom Classic is still our number pick as the best photo editing software here in 2021.

Even with all the competition out there, no one’s been able to match its organisation and photo editing tools, which remain the benchmark for most other photo editing programs.

If you’re a photographer with a high-volume workflow, Lightroom’s ability to batch edit and set import/export presets really can’t be beaten.

For those of us who use metadata (stock photographers, bloggers, website designers, etc.), Lightroom’s options are hard to match, including being able to set import presets – a huge time saver.

This focus on metadata also allows for incredibly useful image search features – you can search by just about anything, including lens type, camera type, and location.

Another star feature of Lightroom Classic is the ability to seamlessly edit in other programs (both Adobe and third party), and then return to Lightroom to finalise the image.

Need to dip into Photoshop for some intensive editing? No problem. Want to add in a new sky using Luminar? Easy!

While other professional photo editing software offer plugin support, many often just send you out to the other program, offering no easy way back.

easy to use UI

Applying Profiles and Presets to photos in Lightroom allows you to improve their appearance in one click.

Most photographers rely on ‘Presets’ to edit their images – the ability to apply a ‘look’ to a series of photos with one click is a big time-saver, and benefits editing consistency.

Many Lightroom presets are available for free, (with some great ones included in the software), and many other paid presets are downloadable from various industry sites.

A new feature called ‘Profiles’ brings further editing efficiency to the process, with the Profile Browser providing a quick and easy way to sample the various styles.

Other top-of-the-line photo editing features include profile-based lens corrections, a powerful dehaze tool, a Healing Brush that works as WinX DVD Ripper Platinum Crack as Photoshop’s, and noise and chromatic aberration adjustments.

There’s also HDR and panorama integration, face recognition, optional cloud storage, and a mobile app.

In fact, Lightroom Classic’s integration with ‘Lightroom’, (formerly known as ‘Lightroom CC’ – I told you the names were confusing!), is another top drawcard for this impressive photo editing software.

By subscribing to one of the Creative Cloud Photography Plans, users benefit from a regular desktop-focused workflow with Lr Classic, as well as a cloud-based mobile workflow with Lightroom and its free mobile app.

Being able to start editing a photo in Lightroom on your computer, then continue on a tablet or mobile phone, (with everything backed up to the cloud), is a revolutionary workflow which justifies an Adobe subscription, whether for professional or amateur photographers.

With recent updates to the Lightroom Mobile app, users can even import images directly to their tablet or phone, right from their camera’s memory card, to edit, organise and share them immediately.

The Lightroom app also features a built-in camera, which benefits anyone who uses their phone to take photos. Every image is immediately backed up to the cloud, meaning you can cancel any additional iCloud/Google Drive subscriptions.

The Lightroom mobile app is the best way to free yourself from your computer as a photographer, and definitely worth an upgrade if you’re an existing user of Lightroom 6.

mobile app

Editing images on a phone or tablet using the free Lightroom app is convenient and fun.

Any edit you make on a mobile device will be waiting for you when you return to your computer, with everything kept in perfect sync – this is the future of image editing!

Also included with Lightroom is Adobe Photoshop, a powerful photo editing software for more intensive photo manipulation.

As mentioned previously, Photoshop works seamlessly with Lightroom, and also features an excellent iOS and Android tablet app, perfect for those wanting to edit a photo on the go.

There are several plans to choose from free - Free Activators how to buy Lightroom here), but the fact remains – Adobe’s move to a subscription model upset many photographers, hence the various alternatives that popped up.

While affordable, the plan tethers you to monthly or yearly payments, which may not suit everyone.

However, the combination of Photoshop and Lightroom as part of the Creative Cloud plan is unbeatable, especially if you consider the enormous benefits of a truly mobile workflow.

ON1 Photo RAW Discount Code: Save 20% with coupon code SHOTKIT

On1 is another company that jumped into the Lightroom-alternative melee. Originally known for its special effects and amazing Portrait plugin, it’s since become a full-fledged piece of RAW photo editing software.

Offered as both a standalone program and a Lightroom/Photoshop/Apple Photos plugin, the newest edition of ON1 Photo Raw 2022 now includes various AI-powered features that make image editing much more powerful.

These new features include:

Sky Swap AI, Time-Lapse Creation, Integration of ON1 NoNoise AI, Photoshop Plugin Support, Newly Retooled Export, Line Mask Tool, Backup and Restore, Favorites in Browse, Customizable Thumbnails, Gesture Support View and Apple Silicon Native Support.

Existing features include AI Match and AI Auto, Effects (Weather, Sun Flare, Color Balance and Channel Mixer), improved decoding of RAW files (especially for Fujifilm), custom camera profiles with X-Rite, SmugMug integration, improved noise reduction, a map view, a Print Module, speed/performance enhancements, and more.

On1 Photo RAW‘s performance is snappy, especially start up time, which is noticeably quicker than the other photo editing software we tested.

ON1’s Digital Asset Management (DAM) is similar to Luminar but provides keyword, metadata, and advanced search options.

In our review, we noted that the ON1 Photo Raw interface looks very similar to Lightroom’s. Most of the adjustment sliders have the same names, the placement of the editing tools is very similar, and many of the keyboard shortcuts are the same.

Luminar 4’s interface is much sleeker and easier to learn, but the latest version of ON1 Photo Raw made a lot of improvements and now works seamlessly.

Like Photoshop and Luminar, ON1 Photo Raw has layers, blending modes, and masking. The masking options in On1 are superior to Luminar’s, with an AI masking feature and “refine edge” included.

Other features include full integration with Apple Photos, the ability to add text to an image, HDR, panorama photo merging, and the ability to migrate your Lightroom catalogue over to On1’s DAM.

The Timeline Albums feature provides a simple and efficient way to organise photos automatically, with the software organising files by year, month and day, much like in the iPhone photos app.

In an attempt to keep pace with the various cloud-based image editing workflows on offer by other products, ON1 360 in conjunction with On1 Photo Mobile allows users to view, organise, edit and share photos between computers and mobile devices.

Map View allows you to explore where your photos were taken and add location metadata to images that don’t already include embedded GPS.

There are presets aplenty in On1, with over 100 new and trending looks and styles curated from recent photographic trends.

The Effects filters are a fun feature, allowing users to experiment with colour balance, weather, channels and even sun flare – although the latter is not as intuitive as Luminar’s AI version.

ON1 Photo Raw also works well on Windows if you have a computer with at least 4GB RAM (8GB when used as a Photoshop plugin), and 1.5 GB disk space for installation.

If you’re a portrait photographer, you’ll love ON1’s legacy portrait plug-in. It provides genuinely excellent skin retouching, eye and mouth controls, and even an automatic face finder that creates a separate mask and adjustment panel for each face.

All of this makes it a cinch to add detail to eyes, whiten teeth, accentuate lips, and improve skin. Many photographers consider the program worth it for the Portrait editing plugin alone.

Instant previews of all editing effects is also a nice touch, allowing users to dial in every setting to taste – there’s a great preview on their sales page here, if you’d like to try yourself before downloading.

At just around $100 for a one-time purchase, you’ll often find ON1 Photo RAW on sale – click the button below to see the latest offer.

3. Luminar AI

Luminar AI Discount Code: Save $15 with coupon code SHOTKIT15

I’ll keep this write up short as you can read all my thoughts about Luminar AI in the full review, but suffice to say, it’s a truly impressive piece of software.

Functioning more like a smartphone app than a desktop image editor, Luminar AI is one of the most simple pieces of editing software I’ve ever used, making it perfect for beginners.

There’s virtually no learning curve – you just import your image and the artificial intelligence-powered ‘Templates’ suggest the starting point for the edits, all dependent on the contents of the photo.

From there, you can make further AI-powered edits, or take full control with any of the regular tools – there’s even a masking option if you want to add or remove an effect.

The actual AI features are incredibly powerful, but also a cinch to implement – performing complex edits like slimming a subject’s torsos, changing eye colour or even adding fog to a landscape, are all just a mouse click away.

It certainly feels a lot like cheating! Luminar AI will appeal to anyone who’s more interested in the final result than in the process.

It’s perfect for anyone who doesn’t know the first thing about editing a photo and can allow complete novices to perform professional retouching in seconds.

What it lacks, however, are all the DAM features for pros, as well as intricate export options, layer-based editing and any kind of keywording – for those, you’ll need to use the Lightroom Plugin or wait to see what Luminar Neo offers.

4. Exposure X7

Exposure X7 Discount Code: Save 10% with coupon code SHOTKIT217

If you’re looking for an affordable RAW photo editing program with all the core functionality of Lightroom plus a few useful extras, Exposure X7 should definitely be in your sights.

Functioning as a standalone photo editing tool as well as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, X7 has been a recent favourite of wedding photographers seeking to manage and edit large volumes of images.

While Luminar 4 falls short in the Digital Asset Management stakes, Exposure X7 has bulk image editing and management performance that rivals the best photo editing software available this year.

Its standout feature is the new masking tool, a powerful way to select prominent Shadow Fight 2.14.2 APK Cracked MOD Free Download Latest in your photo, allowing you to perform accurate local edits or remove the background.

Featuring all the core editing features to adjust colour palette, tonal values, composition and more, X6 brings a simple and intuitive workflow to all levels of photographer.

The workspace of Exposure X7 will be familiar for those coming from Lightroom, with panels neatly and logically arranged, and a similar tool naming convention.

However, while Lightroom forces users to hop between various ‘modules’ to edit, organise and share photos, Exposure X7 features just one screen, which vastly improves the entire image handling experience.

An additional benefit over other photo editing software is the ability to fully customise the workspace panels and tools to suit your needs.

file manager easy to use

Panels and tools are customisable to organise the perfect editing workspace.

The ‘Overlays’ feature is similar to a Photoshop layer, allowing users to add various effects and textures to images, such as a light flare or scratch marks and dust for a film look.

Speaking of film, the number of presets available in Exposure X7 is impressive, with numerous options to replicate popular film stock, as well as others for distinct looks and styles.

For those already ingrained in a Lightroom workflow, the migration process is thankfully straightforward, with all edits and metadata being transferred to your new X7 library.

Importing images can be performed in several ways, with the most straightforward being to simply drag and drop them on the main workspace, be it from your computer’s internal storage or external hard drive.

Refreshingly, files aren’t copied or moved from these locations (as they can be with Lightroom), but simply referenced for access via Exposure X7.

Another great feature is the ability to collaborate on images via a cloud-based service such as Dropbox. For the average user, this could mean editing on multiple computers, and for the pro, editing via a team or studio.

You can check our review of Exposure X7 for a deeper dive into whether this is the best photo editing software for you, or just click the button above to download a free trial.

For those who decide to purchase outright, there’s a one-off payment of less than $120 – great value for money, and not a subscription fee in sight ;-)

5. Capture One Pro 21

Check current price

Known for its exceptional Raw conversion, fantastic color adjustment options, and exceptional tethered capture features, Capture One Pro has long been the professional photographer’s choice.

This most current update adds in several much-needed features, including Heal Brush, Clone Brush, Before / After tool, layers and even a Lightroom importer.

As expected, Capture One Pro has many of the same features as Lightroom, some of which are more refined – the colour adjustments, noise reduction, and sharpening features in particular.

However, the photo organisation options, while acceptable, still lag behind Lightroom.

Like Lightroom Classic, Capture One Pro uses a catalogue system, giving you the automatic backup options missing in On1 and Luminar.

This can make a bit of a learning curve for getting started, but once you get used to it, you’ll have more versatility than with programs that use your hard drive’s folder structure.

All the editings tools sit in a singular interface, which allows users to toggle through buttons to change functions.

Everything is fully customisable, which is quite overwhelming at first, but soon becomes an intuitive way to produce a more efficient workflow assigned perfectly to your needs.

The ability to have various tool panels ‘hover’ over the main image viewing area is a neat touch, allowing you to drag and drop items wherever you like, making the most of cramped laptop monitors.

The ability to annotate on images is a unique feature.

Users transitioning from Lightroom can set up their Capture One workspace to mimic it almost exactly. You can even assign the same keyboard shortcuts, to make the migration a lot less painful.

As far as the selection of adjustment tools is concerned, Capture One excels – there’s a macro and micro adjustment for everything any photographer could ever need.

Autocorrect options can be powerful when used judiciously, and the masks and layers tools are almost as powerful as those found in Photoshop.

Using layers allows you to make targeted adjustments to your photos, while still having access to the majority of main image editing tools – not just the ones that apply to the tool you’re using. This allows a much finer level of control during photo manipulation.

One place that Capture One really shines is in its superior RAW conversion – images have noticeably more detail and dynamic range than other photo editing software, right from the intial import.

Other features that make this an exceptional piece of software include the ability to insert annotations, best-in-class tethered camera options, and the fact that it tends to be faster and more stable than Lightroom.

Performance is generally fast and smooth – launching the software for the first time initiates a ‘hardware acceleration’ process, which uses OpenCL/GPU to dedicate memory to things like Previews, sorting, rating, and processing.

You do need a relatively powerful computer to run Capture One Pro smoothly, with at least 8GB of RAM, 10GB of free disk space and an Intel Core i3 (Mac) or Intel or AMD CPU with two cores (Windows), minimum.

The only real strikes against it are the fact that there’s no HDR or panorama options, the steep learning curve, limited plugin support compared to other software, and the price.

The full-fledged version retails at close to $300. There’s also a subscription option at $20/month ($15/month if you prepay for a year) – considerably more expensive than Adobe’s Creative Cloud Photography Plans.

If you’re a Sony or Fujifilm camera user, you can buy the software for around $130, or use a paired-down free version that’s understandably limited.

If you want to give it a try, there’s a free fully functioning 30-day trial available.

6. DxO Photolab 4

Check current price

Best known for its exceptional RAW conversion, noise reduction and sharpening tools, PhotoLab has long been an add-on of choice for many photographers – it does things that other programs simply can’t match.

With the inclusion of a DAM in this newest version of DxO PhotoLab 4 (review), you can now edit photos from start to finish without using any other software.

Like On1 and Luminar, DxO PhotoLab 4 conveniently uses your computer’s hard drive and existing folder hierarchy for its DAM, in contrast to Lightroom, which uses a confusing catalogue structure.

Once your images have been imported into DxO, you can make use of its advanced rating system, add keywords, and/or search for your other files as you see fit.

As a RAW image converter, DxO is hard to beat. Its automatic lens and camera-calibrated corrections manage to achieve results that are a couple of steps above other image editing software – Capture One Pro is the only other photo editing tool that comes close.

Signature tools include DeepPrime for noise-reduction, a Smart Lighting Module, an excellent dehaze tool, the best noise reduction on the market, and Nik’s U-Point local selection technology for spectacularly precise local adjustments.

Other features include tons of presets, customisable workspaces, virtual copies, and excellent metadata and keyword options.

For those who shoot architecture, the keystone corrections in DxO are essential. Portrait and landscape photographers will love the auto-micro contrast, ClearView (for brightening the horizon), and various spot-metering tools.

Where the latest update to DxO PhotoLab 4 shines is in its completely redesigned approach to managing colour, with a new HSL (Hue, Saturation, and Luminance) Tool which can help you produce more creative and natural-looking images. There’s also a neat watermarking preview feature and a completely customisable workspace.

The DxO ColorWheel is a new colour adjustment tool that you can use to select colour ranges from eight separate channels, fine-tune values, select replacements, and adjust transitions and tints creative effects.

The Uniformity Slider helps standardise colour variations within a specific range, while the Saturation and Luminance Sliders now work independently of each other, allowing users to convert photos to black and white without the use of complex masks.

Render matching is another useful feature, which allows you to match the rendering of over 60 cameras, meaning your RAWs can look more like the JPEG previews shown on the back of your camera screen.

PhotoLab 4 doesn’t have HDR merging or panorama stitching, but that might come in the next update. The workflow module could also use a bit more work, but overall this is one excellent piece of software.

Offered as both a plugin and a standalone program, DxO PhotoLab 4 comes at two pricing levels:  Essential ($129) and Elite ($199). Essential comes with all the standard features, but if you want to make use of DxO’s excellent noise reduction, dehaze tools, multiple exports and the ability to customise your workspace, you’ll need the Elite version.

Runs on Windows 7, 8, and 10, as well as on Mac OS X – click the button below to learn more about system requirements and see the latest offers.

7. CyberLink PhotoDirector 365

Check current price

Having written a full review of PhotoDirector previously, there’s no need to go too deep into this interesting photo editing software from CyberLink.

What photographers need to know, however, is that PhotoDirector is one of the most fully featured and best value options on the market here in 2021.

Whilst most of the other best photo editing software focus on a few key editing tasks in particular, this multi-faceted photo edit has chosen to include virtually every tool you could ever want… plus a host of others you never even knew existed!

Aside from all the usual easy m4p converter crack tools to get the most out of your raw files, you’ll also find special effects, animations, sound effects, GIFs and more – it’s a playground of features, designed to help you have a lot of fun trying to create art from your photos.

You can buy PhotoDirector outright for a reasonable $54.99, but the real value lies in its subscription – at less than $3 per month, it’s perfect for students, beginners or those on a tight budget.

Check out the review for a more in-depth look at its features.

8. Adobe Photoshop 2021

Check current price

Anyone who knows anything about photo editing and graphic design will have used one of the various Adobe Photoshop versions. Now with Photoshop 2020, has evolved into much more than its humble beginnings.

Photoshop is defined as a ‘raster graphics editor’ developed by Adobe for Windows and macOS. It was created in 1988 by Thomas and John Knoll and has become the industry standard for all the various facets of digital art.

Photoshop is also used for image editing, manipulation and retouching, and offers similar tools to any other software in this realm, but to the nth degree – there are often several ways for performing the same function in Photoshop, be it changing a background colour, cloning elements, frequency separation, or any of the myriad other photo editing tasks.

Then there are the special effects and healing tools that only Photoshop can accomplish – AI-assisted tools like content-aware scale and fill often leave me with my jaw on the floor. Being able to recreate a scene that doesn’t already digitally exist is a powerful feature for photographers – see my example video below.

Other newer features that aid photographers, in particular, include improved subject auto-selection (helps with background removal), an improved lens blur tool, customisable warp functions, new preset panels, and an advanced Adobe Camera RAW integration.

With the Password Depot 12.0.6 License Key - Crack Key For U 2021 update, Adobe Sensei bring AI to the new Neural Filters and Sky Replacement features – the Smart Portrait mode offers one-click image manipulation as you’ve never seen before, changing subjects’ expressions, gaze direction and even age!

In addition to making AI-powered adjustments to portraits, Neural Filters also includes features to help repair damaged images, including Photo Restoration, Dust and Scratches, Noise Reduction, Face Cleanup, JPEG Artifacts Restoration and even a way to colourise a black and white image.

While Adobe Camera RAW is excellent for adjusting exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows and all the other various image editing tweaks, it can only work on one image at a time, with edits stored as separate XMP sidecar files.

Similarly, Photoshop isn’t designed to browse or batch-edit multiple images at once – it is possible with the file viewer and actions, but at its core, Photoshop is a graphics design tool, and no match for Lightroom when it comes to organising and editing photos.

Fortunately, Photoshop is included with Lightroom in the various Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plans, making it a handy addition for editing tasks that simply aren’t possible in Lr.

Getting images from Lr to Ps and back again is a cinch, with PSD files retaining all the editing history (and layers) of any work performed in Photoshop.

Then there’s the Photoshop iPad app, allowing you to take your edits on the road, syncing your progress from desktop to mobile device. Paired with an iPad Pro and stylus, it offers a fun and powerful (if not slightly overwhelming) experience and is 100% free, whether you are an Adobe subscriber or not.

(You only need to pay monthly if you want to use the desktop version, and/or store your edited files in the Adobe cloud.)

The only big caveat of Photoshop is its steep learning curve. Tools and features are hidden away, and it’s challenging to dive right in without first consulting Google for a tutorial. That’s why so many alternatives have popped up, offering a vastly simplified UI, such as Inpixo Photo Studio.

That said, anyone who manages to tame the beast is many rungs ahead of even the most adept Lightroom user, with Photoshop giving access to an unlimited world of image manipulation and creative potential.

9. Corel Paintshop Pro 2021

Check current price

If you’re looking for an alternative to Photoshop that doesn’t feature a subscription fee, here’s your answer: Corel Paintshop Pro 2021 (yes, it’s already a year ahead of us!)

I have a graphic designer friend who remembers starting his studies with an outdated version of Paintshop Pro many moons ago – he was startled at just how far this impressive photo editing software has come along.

Now boasting numerous powerful AI-Powered tools that go well beyond free Photoshop alternatives, PsP has become a fully-featured graphics manipulation tool that provides excellent value for money.

AI Upsampling is an incredibly useful feature for those of us with lower megapixel cameras, or for when we’ve cropped in on an image and require it larger, without degrading quality.

Then there’s AI Artifact Removal, which does a fine job at restoring fine detail and original colours in JPEGs, and AI Denoise which helps clean up images shot at high ISO.

The Sea-to-Sky™ tool is a somewhat unusual addition but allows drone and underwater photographers access to a one-click solution for enhanced contrast and clarity.

AI Style Transfer is a fun tool that transforms photos into stylised artwork, much like the popular smartphone apps and Instagram filters.

For photographers and fans of HDR, the new HDR Studio offers a great way to get that unique look with AI-powered presets.

You can preview, organise, and streamline your photo editing workflow in the Manage workspace, which also allows you to add keyword tags to your photos, create catalogues, make batch edits to multiple images at once, and review metadata and file information.

If you need to extend its capabilities, Paintshop Pro supports various 64-bit plugins from Adobe, Topaz Labs, Nik Collection by DXO and many more. You can even import and export PSD files to work across platforms.

Aside from all the photographer-specific tools, Paintshop Pro 3 remains a graphic design software, with all the brushes, colour palettes, gradients, patterns and manipulation tools you’d expect.

Much like Photoshop, the workspace is not immediately intuitive, and with various customisation options available, there’s a steep learning curve to get going. There’s also no mobile app.

However, as a one-off payment for both the Ultimate and Pro editions, PaintShop Pro is a fantastic option that represents a unique amalgamation of Lightroom and Photoshop in one.

10. Affinity Photo

Check current price

If you’re looking for professional photo editing software that combines the photography tools of Lightroom with the nuanced controls of Photoshop, Affinity Photo is an excellent choice.

Unlike the other photo editing software on this list, Affinity Photo takes more after Photoshop than Lightroom. It comes with layers, masks, smart objects, colour management, and both CMYK and RGB editing, as well as decent Raw file conversion.

That being said, Affinity Photo’s primary focus is photography, so it lacks a few of Photoshop’s extra features (like 3D editing).

Other than this, Affinity Pro’s main difference with Photoshop is how the tools are organised. It uses “personas” instead of workspaces and that might take a little getting used to for folks used to Photoshop.

As far as the learning curve is concerned, much like Photoshop, the tools in Affinity Photo are quite in-depth and will take some time to explore and learn. Luckily the interface is quite logical, and if you’ve used Photoshop before the tools will make sense.

In fact, it’s the learning curve and lack of quality tutorials that provide the most significant barriers to new photo editors. Affinity Photo is a pretty deep program and could use more high-quality educational resources.

Still, if you’re looking for a single piece of photo editing software that can replace the Lightroom/Photoshop subscription, Affinity Photo is pretty much your best bet.

From focus stacking and panorama stitching to HDR merging and digital painting, it has just about everything you could want in a photo editing software.

What’s more, at less than $50 Affinity is an absolutely amazing deal.

11. ACD See Photo Studio

Check current price

Although lesser known than some of the other software on this list, ACD See Photo Studio has long been a mainstay for photographers looking for a Lightroom alternative.

It comes with a full suite of photo editing tools, a lightning-fast digital asset management system, and several secondary tools (facial recognition, skin smoothing, and blended cloning), that make this program a joy to use.

One of the most significant advantages of ACD See Photo Studio is just how fast it is. Where Lightroom can often be sluggish, Photo Studio uses a GPU-accelerated engine and claims to be the “fastest digital asset management software you can find.” The layers engine and adjustments are also blazing fast.

Another compelling feature of Photo Studio is its Advanced Light EQ tool, which allows you to make local adjustments to the lighting in your image without affecting the entire photo.

As mentioned before, the layers engine is exceptionally fast and includes most of the masking, blending, text, and layer effects of Photoshop. Other features include cloud syncing, colour grading, batch processing, and advanced keyword management.

Both the Ultimate and Pro versions have HDR, focus stacking, and importable keyword lists, as well as Light EQ. There’s even a mobile app that allows you to send photos and videos directly from your mobile device to Photo Studio.

If you’re a Windows user, we recommend the Ultimate version, which provides the all-important layers feature, allowing multiple non-destructive edits to your photos.

For cloud storage, you can buy a subscription plan for under $90 per year, which will give you all of ACD See’s top products (including a video editor), up to five users (Mac or Windows), 50 GB of cloud storage, and the ability to showcase your work via ACDSee Web galleries.

The broad range of ACD See products can be somewhat confusing, and it’s not immediately apparent which features are available to which operating system.

To clarify, the Mac product (aka ‘Version 6’) can correct exposure, clarity, sharpness, lighting, colour, noise and details, among other essential photo correction tools. However, it lacks most of the other editing features found in Pro and Ultimate, which are Windows-only products.

The Mac version is marketed more like a digital asset manager, and not a fully tooled editing suite, and is also included as part of a ‘Home Pack’.

With all it has to offer, it’s a wonder that ACD See’s Photo Studio isn’t a program with more name recognition.

It trails behind Lightroom in its user interface and the quality of its RAW conversion and lens corrections, but given that you can buy it outright with some excellent features, it’s definitely worth a try.

12. Zoner Photo Studio X

Check current price

While every man and his dog has heard of Adobe, the name ‘Zoner’ isn’t nearly as familiar, despite being a producer of photo editing software for almost the same amount of time.

Zoner Studio X is a Windows-only full photo workflow and image editing program with a monthly subscription fee that’s more affordable than Lightroom.

It offers layer support, presets, retouching tools, video editing, cataloguing, and multiple feature addition and enhancements throughout the year – as you’d expect with a popular subscription product.

Colour editing, in particular, is a strong-point of Studio X, with a fun and intuitive ‘360° color shift’ tool allowing you to quickly and change luminance, hue and saturation, to replace any colour in your image.

Using an eye-dropper, you’re able to click and drag on any colour in an image, with Studio X automatically choosing the right mix of hues and ratios – particularly useful for perfecting the colour balance of foreground and background elements in landscapes.

Switching on an ‘advanced’ mode gives access to the type of granular colour editing tools usually associated with high-level editors such as Capture One Pro and Photoshop.

The tabbed user interface is neatly arranged like a web browser, with customisable panels and tools which allow you to make the most of your workspace.

Importing of images is simple, with Zoner Studio X reading from your existing computer file system. Unfortunately, you can’t apply effects on import as you can with Lightroom, but adding presets and auto-corrections later is simple and relatively fast.

Studio X offers various useful selection tools, and even a content-aware resize, and whilst they’re no match for Photoshop, it’s nice to see them included for basic editing tasks.

The Zoner Photo Cloud provides online photo storage, and ‘Zonerama’ is for online photo galleries and to discover other photographers’ work. Subscribers get 20GB of cloud storage, which you can access within Studio X as a folder in the Navigator panel.

If you’re a Windows user and need most of the online storage capabilities and image editing functionality of Lightroom, Photo Studio X is an attractive alternative.

13. Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021

Check current price

Fully-fledged Photoshop certainly isn’t for everyone. Despite being bundled with an Adobe Photography Plan with Lightroom, there are plenty of photographers who still scratch their heads over its confusing interface and advanced tools.

For those of you not ready for an Adobe subscription, or indeed, prefer a more straightforward, more intuitive image editor for your photos, Photoshop Elements 2020 is a great option.

Don’t be fooled by its simplified user interface – Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020 packs some powerful features into its modest appearance.

Thanks to the baked-in AI-powered Adobe Sensei functionality, you’re now able to automatically select subjects in an image, with the software identifying foreground and background elements, making things like background removal 10x easier than before.

Auto-selection in Photoshop Elements also allows you to create shallow depth of field effects as if you’d shot a scene with a larger aperture lens.

One impressive photo editing feature that will undoubtedly appeal to those of us who have an archive of scanned film negatives is the ability to colourise a photo (converting black and white pictures to colour).

Another handy feature for portrait photos is the Smooth Skin option, with one click reducing wrinkles and blemishes, and a Smoothness slider available for further fine-tuning.

There’s a lot of hand-holding with the clear labelling of tools, and smart use of spacing between elements in the friendly interface – Photoshop Elements seems to be aimed at the older generation, but that’s not to say that anyone else can’t benefit from its simplicity and ease of use.

If you’re looking for the best photo editing software without any significant learning curve, Photoshop Elements 2020 is the one to check out.

It should be clear at this point that there are plenty of options for editing and organising your RAW photos here in 2021.
