Your post is truly intriguing to me as you are impressed with PianoTeq5 even with what you own. It would be most helpful to hear what is lacking OR what incremental gains you notice with PianoTeq5. Word descriptions are sometimes tough and everytime I do careful comparisons I come back to IvoryII Italian.
My playing keyboard is Roland KR577 Digital Piano and Velocity settings have real importance for me.
I 'think' I'm looking for something 'bigger' and Ravenscroft implies this, along with Audio tracks provided. OTS EV Rosewood Grand sounds 'bigger', but when playing fav music, I get some unpleasant Velocity surprises. No doubt these can be adjusted better, and my touch control is surely not ideal
Just re-downloaded Pianoteq Demo with open mind (I think!)

I'm only playing piano for fun too. Pianoteq is much more pleasurable than any of the sample pianos I've tried.
I played with the demo for the Standardversion too (still using Stage). I really like the microphone and room interface, that's pretty cool. It's a cut above just playing with reverbs. The piano tuning OTOH is limited considering the price hike over Stage (even in the sale). At least they do not charge you extra for upgrading Pianoteq to Standard.
I will probably go for Standard upgrade in a future sale, but for now the extra pianos are better VFM pianoteq free - Free Activators me.
The "free" pianos are every bit as good as some of the retail pianos too BTW. You only get to try those when you've bought a product.
The Pleyel 1926 and Erard 1922 are to my ears the best of the historic pianos from Pianoteq, the Pleyel 26 tone is lovely. I like the CP80 too. 08-21-2016, 11:45 AM

You need a computer with internet connection to activate, but your DAW machine does not need to be connected to the internet. You can install on 3 machines.

I recommend going for Pianoteq, when I first demoed it I remember that it grew on me slowly. At first I felt I could hear too easily it's shortcomings, but soon the situation reversed and nothing else I tried had the living quality it does, which I began to miss.
